Easiest way I leveled up to fifty in Star Wars: The Old Republic

By Sandy Gierut

The MMO genre was turned upside down this year when Star Wars The Old Republic was introduced. The storyline is quite interesting and the players are amazing, but the grind is extremely boring. Leveling is as bland as can be and it never gets much better. I was upset to find that this is still the same in SWTOR, so I picked up a guide to help me ease my way through the grind. It was amazing how fast I leveled.

I am one of those people who hate to use a strategy guide, but it was my best chance for leveling with my friends. I was able to level faster than people who played much more and hit level 50 in a mere 2 days. This allowed me to join an elite guild and see endgame content way faster than I would otherwise. This was great because I have very limited time and really have to optimize my playing time. I was also able to jump into Warzones and fight some really skilled players. When leveling, I knew where to go and how to get there. Now, I am fully decked out in amazing gear and playing in one of the top guilds.

How leveling was much easier

Leveling in every MMO is virtually the same. You're sent out on some boring grindfest to kill a hundred creatures and it is very boring. Guides allowed me to level more quickly because I knew exactly where mobs spawned. Even with the in-game NPC interactions, it wasn't fast enough. I found myself stuck looking for mobs to kill or dying over and over. Hard to locate quest items are always marked and bosses are no longer a mystery to find. It is much simpler to look in my guide, find the location of my quest and go in and finish it. I don't have to waste a second of my precious time by trying to locate my quest objectives.

When leveling, I had to figure out the best build for my class. This was all laid out in the guide and it listed the benefits of each build. This enabled me to have all of the best abilities for my class and level like a professional. I choose to be a dps because healing is a much less efficient way to level. However, my guide listed the best specs for healing and tanking too. It is much better than researching for hours online.

If you have ever played World of Warcraft, you know how tedious it is to level professions. Crew skills are the same way. They let you make amazing pieces of gear, but you have to grind to get all of the resources for everything. However, it is much faster to just send your companions out to get everything for you. My guide listed everything I needed and even what planet all of the resources were found on. So, instead of wasting my time farming, my companions did all the work for me. It was truly a fun experience to run around with awesome gear that they went farming for.

Playing PvP is always one of my most favorite parts of a MMO. I get to match my skills against other players and learn from them. It makes everyone an overall better player. I was able to learn vital tactics from a strategy guide that allowed me to kill a ton of people in every Warzone.
